Their historic jersey’s color is sky blue which is known as azzurro, in Italian. That’s why the soccer’s national team members are known as Azzurri. This is the same color for all other sports played in Italy whether it is athletics, motor sport or any other.
The blue color comes from the coat of arms of the last Italian Regal Family (Savoia: Italy 's ruling dinasty until the end of World War II), after the war all reference to the Savoia were lost except the blue color in sport, which remained as Italy's officials colors .
