C-sections are very painful and hard to recuperate from.

I had an emergency C-section and i was awake. you do not Feel a thing! And you get to See your baby when it comes out. But I do not recommend a c-section. the recovery time is a lot longer and the pain afterward is worse. you can hardly walk or get up to care for your new baby. They have medicine now for vaginal births so you don't feel a thing! But when all is said and done you forget the pain and have the cutest baby to Love no matter how it got out.

The best way to deliver your future children is vaginally, unless there is a problem with you or the baby that would make vaginal delivery dangerous. Epidural anesthesia is available with vaginal deliveries and does a great job at lessening the amount of pain that goes along with labor and delivery.
Most C-sections are NOT done under general anesthsia. General anesthesia is much more dangerous to both the mom and the baby. Epidural and spinal anesthesia are the preferred way to go - less stressful on the baby. There is a newer type of spinal anesthesia called "duramorph." It's great. Moms have so much less pain and nausea post op.
Talk your fears over with your doctor early on. If they don't listen openly to your concerns, find another physician. Your OB is your partner in the wellbeing of both you and your baby - make sure you can talk openly with them and feel safe in their care.

I have four children and had two c sections. One was born while I was sleeping and the other one when I was awake.
One was an emergency and the other one was not. I recovered faster with the second one. The first one took a while longer than the second one. I had a general anesthesia with the first and a spinal with the second. which one did I enjoy better? The first one I felt no pain, the second one I was awake for even though I did not like it when they inserted that spinal needle into my back. You decide!

I have two children. Both were born by c-section. Depending on what condition you may be in, you can be put to sleep. This is not likely. It is not recommended. You will want see you baby right away. For me having a c-section caused me no pain. You will be given an epidural which will numb you completely from below your breast to your toes. To be very honest I felt no pain what-so-ever during my healing with my first born and just very little aches with my second born. Once your baby is on its way you will not care how they get here, just as long as they are healthy and you finally get to see that beautiful face.

General anesthesia is usually used for planned c-sections. But a strong epidural could deaden the pain enough in an emergancy.

why do you want a C-Section? Epidurals are the way to go. No pain. Your awake to enjoy everything. and you have no permant scar. Remember a C-Section is major surgery

They wanted to give me an epidural so i would be awake during my c-section and i told them NO WAY!!!!

I was put to sleep....I had been put to sleep a few times before that for other surgerys.

I was fine. I don't know who in there right mind would want to be awake during that knowing they are being cut wide open and to hear and smell all of that.

It is no crime or sin if you want to be put to sleep.

you can be put to sleep or awake, go to your hospital where you are having the baby or one in your community and ask for the lamaze class or birthing class or whatever the title is, for those having a csection, it is a one day class and well worth it they explain alot of the unknowns that you are fearing right now and most insurance cover the cost
