1. Choose an eyeliner appropriate for your eye color. Brown, navy and charcoal accent light eyes well, while brown and plum shades flatter brown eyes. Make sure your liner complements the color of your shadow.
2. Consider the type of look you're after. Pencil eyeliner gives your eyes soft definition, while liquid versions offer precision and drama. You can also moisten dark eye shadow and apply it with a small, flat brush.
3. Prepare a cake liner or a dark eye shadow by applying a small amount of water to your brush. Or, if you're using a pencil eyeliner, ensure that you've sharpened the pencil adequately.
4. Move the wet brush gently through your cake liner or dark shadow. Hold the brush or pencil as you would hold a pen.
5. Tilt your head back slightly and bring your eyes to a half-open state. This creates a good angle for application, while allowing you to see what you're doing.
6. Draw a line across the upper lid just above the lashes, from the inside corner to the outside corner of the eye. If you're using liquid liner, allow it to dry before opening your eyes all the way, or the color may transfer into the crease of your eye.
7. If you used a brush or a pencil, soften the look by gently smudging the line with your brush, a cotton swab or your finger.
8. Line the lower lids. Moving from the outside edge inward, draw a line on the outer two-thirds of the lid or more, depending on the look you're going for. Your line should be slightly thicker at the outside corner, becoming thinner as it moves in toward your nose. Using your brush or pencil, lightly stroke the area. If using a liquid liner, apply it in one smooth stroke. Apply less color so your eyes don't appear raccoonlike.

I like Brianna's answer best. Pencil liners are easier if you never have used eyeliner before. If it is too hard on the lid to put down the color warm it up with warm running water, it should put color down easy after that. Get as close to the lash line as possible, blend in small mistakes in stroke with an eyeshadow applicator. Don't put the eyeliner on the inside of your lower lids as it may lead to eye infection. Change eyeliner and all eye products at least every six months to lessen the risk of eye infection.

maybe u need more a plum color instead of black. you see the mistake people tend to make is to buy just a basic black liner when they could be buying a more lighter and more flatering color. i wear Clinque's Violet Quickliner which is like a plum.
also maybe u r applying the liner way to under the line. eyeliner should by applied directly under the line in your eyelid or to make it easier in you eyelashes. and on the top of your eye make sure the liner is applied as thin as possible. thick will make u look like a raccoon and possible goth which i no that u r not going for.
Good Luck and if u need help applying liner ask an adult such as your mom or go to a makeup counter in a department store such as Clinque and ask the associate to apply it on u and take you step by step through the process.

For your upper eyelid try to apply your eyeliner as close to your eyelashes as possible, and for a more natural look make the line thin. You may need to sharpen the tip. Also, if black eyeliner doesn't seem to suit you, you may find that brown works best with you eye color and skin tone.

my best advice is to get as close to the lashes as possible on the top, and as close to the inside of the lip on the bottom
bottom is optional
don't get it too thick, a nice thin line will do fine and if you need to, tug at the corner of your eye so you see above the lashes so you get it as straight and close as possible
i couldnt find a good tutorial in a short amount of time so I hope it helps!
I had issues with this too but now it looks fine, I usually just put it on the inside of my botton lids, some peope say not to but it works fine for me and make it looke pretty natural, so find what works fryou and stick with it :D
good luck!

eyeliner isn't "natural" lol but if you want it to look good, apply along the line of your lashes in a single, light line. I usually just do bottom lashes, top lashes are harder to line. It just takes practice. Don't use BLACK. use dark bown instead. Make several short strokes instead of one long line... Hope that helps. Good luck. and practice practice practice!
