how does a referee get away with issuing 3 yellow cards to the same player in a match? surely there is somthing wrong with the system if a player is allowed to stay on the picth after a second yellow card, and then only leaves after receiving a third yellow.

Different scenario...I wonder if every one would think it was no big deal if that person had have scored while still on the field and that score legally stood as the result, knocking their team out of the WC. Bet you'd all be doing the same amount of belly aching.
No referee at that level should make that kind of mistake. Neither should the linesmen or the fourth referee. Dismal display by all that officiated. Bet Brazil and other top teams would be jumping up and down had a goal been scored by a banished player and cost them their spot.
Its not just about what happened or didn't, it's the potential that it will again and the potential that it could cost teams their place to advance.
Australia is proud and would have still been proud had the result been different. Unlike some our boys would not have been abandoned by us supporters. Posters are just stating facts that occurred in the game. No more no less than everyone else does.

who the hell is the retard who said 3 yellow cards and youre gone? why dont u go learn something about football. its two and its a red. and they give u a red or yellow depending on the SEVERITY of the foul, or whatever, not WHERE it takes place. but of course if uve impeded a possible goal its more serious, so obviously goal square is where a lot of red cards are brought out. but its not dependent on it. and yeah i know we got screwed over by that ref, he should have known it was a second, thank god we made it through!! otherwise grrr. and were whining because weve been hard done by 2 refs out of 3 games. accidents happen but brazil and croatia matches have been jokes. especially the brazil match. and FIFA will investigate that triple yellow card, hope his **** gets fired

proves that the referee is a moron. He is supposed to write down the shirt number of someone who gets a yellow card.

that is the way the game is two yellow cards then a third and your gone...if the ref thinks its a foul its a yellow . red if your the last person back and you tackle you get a red,red card if yo habd ball in the box

The 'system' did not break down the ref did - he did not check his book where he writes down bookings (hint hint) !!!
The 'system' will ensure that he gets to relax and watch Australia v Italy from his home in England :-)
