Try to really understand what you are studying instead of just learning things by heart. It's also important to go over each lesson again the same day to make sure you understood it. If you try to cram it all into your head a couple of days before the exam, it'll be too late.

1.Take a class on study skills & reading comprehension/understanding. They're usually offered by your local community college, but there are some high schools that offer them.
2. Don't study in front of the TV. It's a temptation, because watching MTV is easier than homework.
3. Set a time/place for you to study. If you do it right when you get home from school, you'll have the rest of the evening to do what you really want & enjoy doing.

Try to pay attention to your teachers. Be aware of your weak points. When you are in class, try to predict how this material will be tested, later. Study for the grades, not to be einstein. If you don't understand the material thoroughly, you can still get a pretty good grade if you can study for the test, rather than try to understand everything completely.

quit putting your social status before everything else. Quit smoking weed and drinking every night, and actually try to learn. J/K if you have a hard time testing, the problem is probably you are not interested in the subject or you're not excited about it. Find a reason to enjoy what you are learning and absorb it.

Do up a study timetable giving more time to subjects that require attention.Give up things that are most likely to interfere with studies.Set small goals and tick them off as you achieve them.

become better at reading and writing. all of the school system is based on those two things - you will do better in all subjects (except maybe math) if you improve reading and writing.
