Please show them this response. Depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain and may have devastation consequences if not dealt with by medication and or talk therapy. I am the wife of someone who suffers with depression and I have a 23 year old son with depression. Both are on medication and go to therapy.

It usually isn't something that will just go away.

Please ask your counselor to intervene with your parents on your behalf. In the meantime, get outside and get some exercise. Walking, running, riding a bike, all are proven to help increase endorphins, which will help make you feel better. Also, like Harry Potter, a little chocolate every now and then helps keep the Dementors away....

Try going onto different websites and printing out different info on depression, or even look for pamphlets in your school (ask your counselor). Present these to your parents by telling them that you REALLY would like to have a serious conversation with them. By telling them you are depressed might make them think that you are somehow being sarcastic or just looking for attention. By being serious about what's going on with your info that you gather, they are forced to see what you are talking about and hopefully will take it more serious. For another option, try having your counselor call your parents and telling them what she/he is seeing in your behaviour. My seniour year in high school, my counselour also noticed that I was dealing with depression. Noone I knew had any idea that I was going through any of these problems because i had done such a great job covering them up. At the school I was attending, my counselor called my mom and told her what she had discovered and since my case was more severe, my mom had to sign off on paperwork in order for me to come back to school!! Try something, anything. Even try reaching out to your counselor for other options as to what you can do for help without your parents support!

If they don't seem to hear you how about visual aids? pick up pamphlets on depression. Get info on line print it up high light the symptoms you have.
Do you have a relative to talk to who could talk for you? Maybe one of your parents friends? Don't stop trying. As a parent I'm sometimes unsure if my kids really hear me but my Mother tells me just keep talking they do hear. So I offer that bit of advice to you.
