husband and i coach our kids little league. have for 3 years. this is our last year. our record is 8 and 1. these parents who just sit there think they have the right to complain if their kid doesn't start, or doesn't play the position they think they should be playing!! am i overreacting or do i have a right to be ticked? if they don't like the way we do it, why don't they volunteer their time?!!!

I have never seen this happen on my boys' teams (Little League & soccer). I strongly feel that this has to do with the league & the coaches - you need to let everyone know up front what the deal is. One year, my son's soccer coach sent home a letter at the beginning of the season saying - I'm the coach, you're not, if you want to coach then volunteer. He phrased it a little more kindly, but you get the idea. Let your parents know up front what your expectations are for parents. By the way, your record is irrelevant. It doesn't matter if your team is horrible - so what - parents need to realize that their children are not going to become professional athletes. I think you are awesome to volunteer. My fellow parents & I treat our coaches great!

Let me ask you this question. If you thought a coach was misusing your child on the field, would you say something? Complain about it?

If your answer is yes, you are probably a little sensitive to the situation.

If your answer is no, then you are a better person than just about everyone else.

BTW, your record is irrelevant. Little league is suppose to teach teamwork and skills. Winning shouldn't be a factor in how you coach.

Hi! I have been a person who has been a doer all my life. Even have awards for outstanding service to my community. Now it has always been that the no doers love to criticize the doers. In fact the worst ones are the biggest non doers. This seems to be a natural thing and probably has something to do with there feelings of quilt. It may also make them feel that they are doing something. Anyway just know that it isn't you but just a normal reaction. 85 year old Bill

little league is not about a record its about each kid playing, you have no right to be ticked, the parents pay money to have their kid on the team and play, not sit on a bench. Let them play!!!!

You have all the right in the world to be ticked. You are facing pure, no hold bars, me, me, me mentality arrogance. Tell them why don't they sent their kid to a summer baseball camp so he or she could improve.

It's a democratic society, but beyond that they have all this energy from helping with nothing and trying to live their unfulfilled dreams through their children.
