The pharmaceutical industry is much more profitable if people stay sick. So, there is no incentive for them to sponsor research for cures. However, they do big time sponsor salespeople (100,000 nation wide) calling on doctors to bribe them into filling out prescriptions for more and more synthetic drugs. The drug companies also sponsor CME courses in exotic destinations to teach doctors about, not cures, but about new synthetic drugs and encouraging doctors to drug their patients.
Doctors get lavish meals and free vacations, Americans get written more and more prescriptions, many times for me too drugs for conditions such as ED (like Viagra) that there are natural remedies for.

Let me answer your question with a quote from Chris Rock.
"You know what the last thing scientists cured was?... Polio. Polio was the last thing that they cured. And that was so long ago! Nobody gets Polio anymore. Nobody goes to the doctor and gets diagnosed with Polio! Man, scientists ain't curin nothin! And you know why? Ain't no money in the cure! The money's in the medicine! That's right. That's right. They will find a way for you to live with it! Like Aids. They ain't never curin Aids! No no, they will find a way for you to live with it. You're gonna see people calling in sick for work saying "Yeah, my aids was acting up. When it rains like this my aids just pop up!" Man, scientists ain't curing sh*t. There are some diseases that they just gave up on. Like if you're paralyzed. You get paralyzed ad you go to the doctor "Doc, what'chyou got for me?" Well we have this lovely chair for you. Now you can be paralyzed and roll your a** around! A chair! That's all you got? A chair! This is the doctor, not a furniture office!"
Okay, I got a little carried away, but the basic point is that there really is no money in the cure. If you have to continue buying medicine, then there's money to be made.

Last time we cured anything was 1911.
Read:
Cancer - Its causes, symptoms and treatment
by Eli G. Jones (19th Century)
It is unfortunate that despite his giving so many guidelines, surgeries are still going on, suppliments are being refused to mainstream in-patients! Chemotherapy, radiation are also being prescribed. Time has come to take responsibility for your health yourself and crush the medical frankesteine!
