Any consumer electronic device containing microchips relies on quantum physics for the diodes and transistors on the chips to work. The laser in a CD player relies on quantum physics for its operation. The Global Positioning System depends on very precise timing of satellite radio signals. A special relativity correction is applied to allow for the motion of the satellite relative to you, and a general relativity correction because you are deeper in the Earth's gravitational potential well than the satellite. Time passes at a different rate for the satellite than for us. If these corrections were switched off, your GPS navigator would become less accurate.

It would be difficult to give an "everyday life" example of quantam physics because quantum physics deals with forces on the atomic level. However, I actually heard a talk given on using quantam physics to describe gender. It was pretty interesting.
