distance from Melbourne Victoria to Brisbane Queensland is 1810kms by Hume hwy to Sydney then the pacific hwy to Brisbane there are other routs the New England hwy & the Newell hwy which are more direct but not much to see on the way

You also have to remember that Brisbane is at the southern edge of Queeensland - there is a couple of thousand km of Queensland north of Brisbane.

to far to walk - cheap flights on virgin blue airlines at the moment though. don't hitch its too cold in the lower parts near melbourne n the weather is rainy

It's about 2000km, a good 2 days drive if that's all you are doing, but 3 days if you want to do it without going stir crazy
