Um...it's "Do you swear to TELL the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God?"

Not "by the truth."

I can tell the truth without the God part. I don't need to be threatened with the fires of "Hell" to do the right thing.

this is a funney question - I don't...
in a court of law you can actually refuse to take that oath if you're a christian because it says in the bible not to swear on any object; of course I do always try my best to tell the truth, and in a court of law promise that I am. sometimes people just can't help it - they might have false information, or not remember correctly. (it's been scientifically proven that memories corrode over time.)
