Yes, you can. The main sign is bleeding. You might mistake it for a regular period and not even know you were pregnant if it happened early enough.

The causes of miscarriage are many, but early miscarriage frequently indicates a pregnancy that was abnormal to begin with. (genetically, or just not developing properly)

Miscarriage Symptoms
A miscarriage is the loss of a pregnancy before 20 weeks and it is nature's way of ending a pregnancy that is not developing normally. The length of the pregnancy will effect the number and severity of miscarriage symptoms.

A miscarriage that takes place shortly after conception can occur as a slightly late, slightly heavy period. Symptoms can vary from person to person, but there are common ones that generally occur:

Bleeding. This can range from brownish spotting to heavy bleeding. It is important to note that many women experience spotting or bleeding during pregnancy and about 50% of the time, the pregnancy progresses normally.
Pain or cramping in the lower abdominal area. The pain could be on just one side, both sides, or in the middle. You may also experience pain in the genitals, lower back, thighs, or buttocks.
You may notice that pregnancy symptoms like nausea and breast tenderness have subsided or lessoned. Be aware that some women do not notice any change in these symptoms, while others do.
Some women say that didn't "feel right" just prior to their symptoms.
If you are pregnant and experiencing symptoms you should contact your health care provider. If any of the following symptoms occur you should go the Emergency Room immediately:

Heavy bleeding
Passing clots or something that looks like tissue (bring the tissue to the hospital in a clean container)
A fever higher than 100.4 degrees F
Dizziness or fainting
A history of tubal (or ectopic) pregnancy
Severe vomiting
Severe pain the abdomen or back
If you have any uncertainty about the need to contact your health care provider, call him or her immediately.

I had a miscarriage when i was 4-5 weeks pregnant and i was put in the hospital but didn't require anything like a d&c.
Yes you do need to see a doctor. Take a pregnancy test to see if you are pregnant cause a pregnancy test will show you are pregnant even though you are not up to 8 weeks following a miscarriage or birth.
Good luck

Well I never had this happen to me thank ******* goodness but I know a few people who have. From what I know miscarriages can happen at any point in the pregnancy. I know someone who had one at thier third and a half week into thier pregnancy and another who was already six months pregnant. Signs is major cramping and bleeding. Now sometimes bleeding occurs in the first few weeks which is due to the expanding of the uterus so if its spotting then there is nothing to worry about. If it continues into the few months or its like chunks of blood coming down then go the emergency room asap. With pregnancy it is always a nervous breakdown but just limit stress and overworking and you should be fine.

As many as 33% of pgcys end in the first few weeks before testing can confirm a pgcy, and before the woman really even knows she could be pg. The only way you may suspect there was a fertilised egg is that your period will be slightly heavier than usual. Unless you were past about 6-8wks and had confirmation of a pgcy there usually is no reason to see the dr as the period would get rid of everything. Do see the doctor if you have a fever though. Nature is usually very efficient in keeping the body healthy.

Yes, sometimes this can happen. It happened to me a few years back. I had done about five pregnancy tests that all came out positive, but then a week or so later i started bleeding. The doctor told me that this sometimes happens early on, something to do with the lining of the womb and the way the fetus(? not sure what you call it that early on) is attached. Quite confusing, the way it was explained to me. But basically I think it was just not strong enough to grow. As for causes I am not sure

Sure can. Bleeding is an obviuos sign. You should see your doctor, because there might be reasons why you have miscarried. Many reasons for miscarriage: the cells may not have formed correctly etc. But your doctor is the best person to ask, he/she is the expert.

Yes, you can. In fact, a good deal of miscarriages do happen in the first few weeks. Most of them, I think. Most women don't know they're miscarrying...they think they're a few days late with their period.

Many women miscarry before they even know they are pregnant. Their period is a few days late, then it is heavier than usual. It usually happens if the egg does not implant properly, or early develpment goes wrong. There may be fatal genetic defects in the embryo.
