why do so many people not get it? Our planet is in so much trouble and decide to remain nasty & ignorant.?

This Question could go in so many ways, from our president for the present(God two more years, we can make it... I hope) to the state of global warming. There are many other possibilities, but I understand where you are coming from. It doesn't matter what you are talking about, the fact of the matter still remains that we really are a very destructive race, humans. We destroy each other, we destroy the planet we live on, and unfortunately no one really seems to want to do much about it. The people who have political control don't seem to be in any hurry to fix much of anything because it may affect their pocket books. But the fact of the matter is besides the very rich, most of our pocket books are suffering anyway. I fear what this planet will be, maybe not for my children, but for my children's children. I hope that humans in general can realize how destructive they are before it is way too late.

Probably because our planet is not in so much trouble. People need to realize that they are NOT the be-all and end-all. Planet Earth could care less and barely even recognizes that there are life forms upon her. Mount St. Helens put more ozone and carbon monoxide into the air in three days that civilization has in over three hundred years. What does this tell you?

While man may affect the micro-climates around where the larger cities are, on the whole, Earth goes along as she always has. There has been global warming and ice ages before we came on the scene, and this will continue, with or without us.

You need to do more research - scientists are now saying that the sunspot cycles are what is causing our global warming trend, plus the fact that we just left an ice age not too many millennia ago.

But some of us know that it's a failing system anyway - this version of earth isn't going to be around that much longer - and it was ending from the start: we are a corrupt race trying to run an infected planet.

It's easy to say "our planet is in so much trouble". Our planet has survived much longer that our generation and I'd bet on it surviving our generation and further. Don't believe all the hype, scientists don't get research grants to prove the planet is OK, but there is all kinds of money to prove it's "in trouble."

Because to acknowledge that they are contributing to a failing planet is very stressful and tramatic. It's a form a denial to pretend that it doesn't exist. They get tunnel vision, so that all they experience and see is their daily lives and trials, and insist to themselves that the things that are happening aren't really happening. because it's easy to remain ignorant. you know the saying "ignorance is bliss"? yeah, people just don't want to bother. but there are few people who does pay attention like you and me and little by little, we wake everybody up and say look at what we are doing.
