The country code for Japan when calling from the U.S. is 81 and if the phone number you are calling has a 0 in front of it. It shouldn't. You only need the 0 when your in the contry

It's 81, but someone said drop the 0 from a cell phone, but you need to drop the 0 from all city codes. So if the number is 03-3333-3333, then you would dial 011-81-3-3333-3333 to call that number. A cell would be 011-81-90-444-44-4444. Of course, the 3s and the 4s would be the actual numbers of the number you are calling.

â¡As everyone said, the country code when calling Japan is '81'. [If you dial a Japanese phone or cell phone, you usually omit the first number of the telephone number, for example 033-XXXX-XXXX or 090-XXXX-XXXX would be dialed as (*1)-81-33-XXXX-XXXX or (*1)-81-90-XXXX-XXXX. (*If you use a special long distance service or code you may need to enter that first.)]
Hope this helps!â¡
