this is a small two piece it looks like it clamps on the outer door lever rod and snaps into the catch i'm sure that it opens the door. One part is yellow and one is white and they snap together like a little hinge. the yellow part has what looks like a snapping clasp whith threads to clamp onto the rod whith threads inside of the door.

I believe what you're thinking of is called a Door Lock Rod Retainer. Depending on what kind of vehicle you drive you may be able to obtain it at a local auto parts store. If you can't find it there then you will have to go to the manufacturer dealership. Just go to the parts department and they'll be able to find the retainer for you. Hope this helps.

You didn't say what kind of car you had. I did some work on my moms Crown Vic and it sounds like what you were describing. it might be a universal ford part....??? Email me with the details and I might be able to help. B)

go to a body shop they will have then or can get them for you
