Water Pills also known as diuretics are used to primarily treat hypertension, some types of renal issues and congestive heart failure. There are several types potassium waisting and potassium sparing. These drugs are not to be used for weight loss as they can cause serious and possibly FATAL electrolyte imbalances. People on diuretics have to have there electrolytes monitored frequently for problems and typically have to take supplements.

Diuretics are prescription drugs though you have certain foods that are called natural diuretics. Lemon, and caffeine are the two major ones.

If you are trying to get rid of water weight gain due to say that time of the month water with a slice of lemon works well without excessively diuresing your system. (Nutritionists recommend it) Caffeine should be avoided as it is a stimulant.
Surprisingly though if you do not have any medical issues just increasing your water intake will boost output and flush your system. It will not cause water weight gain as your body will take what it needs. You should be drinking 8 -8ounce glasses of water a day.

I'm not sure how they work, but in my case they were prescribed for bloating. You need to see a doctor to get the pills, but drinking a lot of strong coffee can have a similar effect. Just don't get too far from the bathroom.

A banana a day will keep your potassium levels up.

Yes! Stay away from them. They are used for high blood pressure but strip you of potassium. My mom was hospitalized and almost died because she did not have any potassium. Your heart has to have this mineral and your body needs it to balance your salt. Do your research before taking this and if you have to take it, eat bananas and take potassium supplements!!!!
