No. Butchers carve up dead meat for eating into suitable portions and cuts. Surgeons carve up living meat in order to help keep it that way.

Sometimes they can be less skillful. I know if I need a body part stiched up I'm going to my dry cleaning lady, not the hospital. I still have scars from a stitching job I once received from a "professional".

Have you seen pictures of the results of skillful reconstructive plastic surgery? It is beautiful, inspiring, and can rebuild lives. Some procedures have brought tears to my eyes concerning patients I did not even know.

no, they help people to stay alive in some cases. would you want a butcher cutting you up in an operating room that had no knowledge in medicine? yeah probaly not.
