I use this recipe all the time. Take 1 whole bulb of garlic and 2-4 very hot peppers. Don't peel. Run through your blender with 2 cups of water. Pour into a jar and let sit overnight. The next morning, strain well and mix with 2 more cups of water. Pour into a spray bottle. Use this mixture to spray anything in your garden. If it rains, repeat spray. Mixture will keep in refrigerator for one week. Bugs and critters hate the smell and the taste of garlic and hot peppers. This is safe for flowers and for vegetables. It does not harm our environment. I hope this helps.

It depends on what it is that your growing, mix buy some insecticidal soap and test spray on the top and the back side of plant first to see if it harms it A good brand is Garden Safe Insectidal Soap or Garden Safe Houseplant and Garden. Or sprinkle on the ground -if its the waliking kind of pest- (not the plant) diatomaceous earth, it will kill many insects (including ants)

If you like the organic way, like I do. I put garlic gloves in each of my garden bed's. Including the veggie patch. it really seem's to keep the bugs out of it. If you prefer the chemical way, ask a local nursery what to do.
