My daughter is 5 and has chronic sinusitis due to allergies. It has been about 3 yrs. She is on zyrtec and now I give her sudafed with it because she is always stuffed up. She goes for only 3 months and has to go back to antibiotics to clear her passages. She had a MRI and that showed inflammation, but no polyps or anything obstructing her passages, so there is no physical reason why. I am so tired of her having to deal with this and she never complains, but you can see she doesnt feel well, she is just accustomed to it. Do you have any idea I might try or has anyone else gone through this? I am not for surgury --- there must be something I can do (have tried vapor inhalant w/ essential oils-it helps, but she hates it) I have done the propping of the head, cool mist, you name it. Now she goes to bed crying she cant breathe and I have given her the allergy med, the sudafed , and even nasal decongestant. Please help!!

Oh, I am so sorry for you both. I would go to a naturopathic doctor and get her off all that stuff. You can get rid of this condition but because of her age, I hesitate to give you too much info. Her body is building mucus and her adrenal glands are probably stressed and her poor liver is trying to process all that medication. Doctors and meds are good but if you aren't getting results, you need to find a reputable ND. In a short time she should be completely well with no meds. Please look into this. My daughter was on similar meds when she was young and it really played havoc with her spleen and liver. It took 3 months with an ND and she was finally well. Because of all the drugs, she developed a horrible case of eczema. It almost covered her whole body! It is completely gone. Yes, there is a cure for eczema. I had it too and we have been free of it for 9 years. I had allergies and asthma and that is gone as well. My daughter is 20 and very healthy now.

A good chiroprator with herbal knowledge might be your answer too. There are other choices.

You sound like me a year ago! It takes a longer course of antibiotics and sometimes a dose of oral steroids to get rid of chronic sinusitis. In conjunction with some nasal spray and possibly switch her to a stronger allergy med. You have to go to a university type setting to get up to date care. Try UVa if you are on the East Coast, and well I can tell you I got no relief for my son til we drove for 4 hours to out of state university hospital. Even now I have trouble getting my peds to follow the sinus spec. orders cause they are still not up to date with what to do.

No surgery, you need to find a doc who knows how to treat this right.

Does she drink alot of cows milk? This is a big cause of alot of allergies and sinus problems, especially ear problems. There is also a herb, called Shizandra, that might help out alot. Here is a website where you can get the herb: www.shopherbalife.com/tfward

My brothers and cousins all had serious hayfever and other allergies. They went to a chiropractor who practiced holistic medicine. We call him the voodoo doctor because the stuff he does is weird, but they are cured of their allergies and he has helped with all sorts of other problems.

my son had this same problem when he was young. he used to get so stuffed up he would have to sleep sitting up cause he couldnt breath if he laid down. plus he snored as loud as an adult did. i finally, after taking him to several drs, found out his tonsils were causing the problem, (dont ask how thats related cause i dont know) he had those removed and has been fine ever since. that was 4 years ago.
