very original.. right away I always try to think of what the name sounds like to see if there's conflict. Declan is great... Dec for short or for "buddy names"... Good luck with the pregnancy

Well, You wouldn't name a girl Declan. That is my Step Son's name, except his mother butchered it and spelled it Decklin. We are in the process of getting the spelling changed to the traditional "Declan" after the Irish St. Declan. It's such a unique name and I think he fits it. He's of Irish decent is fair skinned and has brilliant red hair.

It's alright. I like Brogan or Liam better.

It is pronounced (Dek-lawn) and is the name of a 6th C. saint who founded the monastery Ardmore in County Waterford.

A kid would get beat up in my school with a name like Declan.
His nick name would probably end up being something like Fairy

If your pronounce it the way I think you do then no! sound's like your saying dick land. People will make fun or your kid. If that's not how you say it then I still say no. The name just looks negative.

I see nothing wrong with the name Declan...but....if you don't know the meaning of the name PLEASE do not name him that. Names should have meaning, not just made up letters.
