I guess "lpricrn" has never had to pay over three grand in a period of two years to fix damages done by these animals, not to mention their very large droppings, so I suppose you're against bug repellant and you welcome all kinds of varmint into your home, like rats and snakes. I mean, just because the bird looks better than the average rodent, doesn't mean it won't cause damage, and we are talking about large birds, heavy birds, that fly, quite well, and break everything they want. Now I don't want to kill them, just scare them into another yard, and have someone else ask how to get rid of them. It's ridiculous how quickly some people get on the defensive, why should I want to keep spending money on things they break? Let's make a deal, next time they drive holes into the screen covering the pool, I'll send you the bill! See if you won't feel like auctioning the feathers on e-bay.

If getting a big dog is out of the question, here's another idea. Try using some firecrackers or similar noise-making things. Loud and bright. Don't throw them AT the birds, just somewhat close, you won't hurt them at all but you'll scare the living daylights out of them!

They really are annoying...I remember the first time I heard one...I thought someone was screaming! We usually just chased them out of the yard. We also had a large dog and eventually they learned to stay out of the yard. Good luck!
