I went into seupt up options and put on a password to keep nozy family out and now I can't get on, when the laptop is booting up after a few seconds a key symbol apears on the screen and it doesn't go to windows, it's Acer970Cx made in 1997 (i know aincent)

Turn your laptop off and turn it over. Somewhere on the bottom, there should be a compartment that contains a battery that is used to keep time when the computer is off. Open the compartment, and take the battery out for at least 2 minutes, and then replace it. Your computer should unlock.

it's simple ,the password u gave in the setup is stored in the BIOS ROM which is a small chip capable of storing data,to store data it requires power and that power is supplied by a small battery located on the motherboard turn ur laptop and
Just remove the CMOS battery for few seconds say 10-15 seconds,and the everything in the BIOS will be erased automatically,and u will be able to use ur laptop again.

those issues take time. possibly one thousand generations. evaluate mating with a penguin that has a separation in each and each flipper. some thing that feels like an opposable thumb.
