Experience. If you are of school age, see if your high school or college as a drama or theater department. Look for a local community theater group and join it. I promise you that you will have the time of your life performing. Once you've join a theater group, talked to the director about who in the area teaches acting.

Consider some singing and dance lessons also, as they are helpful talents for any actor.

Like anything worthwhile, it takes time, practice, and disciple. But unlike most other things, it is FUN the whole time. Both of my daughters have acted in community theater and are now married to guys they acted with, and my oldest boy is engaged to a fellow actress. So a local community theater group is an excellent social contact place as well.

I would go on, but I have to leave for rehearsal for "Once Upon a Mattress" opening in August...(Tickets available of anyone who would like to come...)

A "neat way" would be to be "discovered".

Ashton Krutcher was discovered on a college campus (he was a chemistry major) and some of the older actors, from film's early days were discovered just walking down the street or sipping soda in a restraunt. That would be the best way to become an actor, to just be doing your daily thing and someone just "discover" you.

But I don't think it happens very often so I wouldn't be holding my breath for it.

Steal someone's credit card, get acting lessons, hair extentions and go audition for a movie. (couldn't resist the identity theft commercial)
