Probably because were being flooded with movies that are actually good but were getting spoiled. Remember when once in a great while there 'd be this fantastic sounding movie where the previews got you real excited to see it and because it wasn't a every week thing the anticipation alone made the movie special. Now the special effects are all so fantastic and incredible it doesn';t amaze and excite as it did as when Jurassic Park first came out for an example. And all the actors seem to be heartthrobs although there are still those that stand out. It could also be that because of the changing mores of society we want violence, raw sex -shock effects so when a really beautiful movie like Memoirs of a Geisha comes out its not bad enough to satisfy our jaded expectations.I saw more moviegoers at Hostel than Memoirs of a Geisha but Being a different kind of movie enjoyed it.There have been some very good movies-King Kong, The Chronicles of Narnia , Ray and so on maybe we just need to be more selective and not go see (and support) the really bad ones.I can,t wait to see Lady in the Water or the new Nicholas Cage were he plays a Superhero Movie.

Movies are starting to become bad because every story has been told. Every possible story someone writes has already been done. People aren't using their imagination, they aren't thinking out of the box. The audience wants to see something interesting and something that is not imaginable. But the story writers always end up doing what has already been done. For example what is up with Fast and the Furious and then Fast and the Furious 2. They are both exactly the same mindless people racing a bunch of cars. Why do sequels of movies need to be made when they are going to be exactly the same as the movie before. Also society is getting bad which is affecting the media. They both interlink, the media is making society bad and then society is making the media bad. Drugs, alcohol, and street racing are all portrayed as "COOl," in movies well that's a bunch of doggy-doo-doo, the public mostly adults don't approve.

"Starting" to be bad...no, they've been bad for a while now. The reason? Take a look at what mindless wonders are writing, producing and staring in the movies...that's the answer. Maybe if someone with talent would write some good story lines (they obviously can see what the public wants) that would be a good start. But, noooooo, they have to be "creative" and write garbage based on sex, violence and other nonsense most of us are completely fed up with. People just need to vote with their money...don't go to movies that are rated above a PG13 and even then, be careful!

Because people are running out of plot ideas so they recycle old movie plots over and over and over again. Also, because of technology with fantastic special effects and great makeup to make the actors look superb, the producers just hope people will bask in the pretty and ignore the rest. And when someone actually does come up with a never-done-before idea, it's usually something involving Dracula and Billy the Kid facing off Old Western style or leprechauns attacking a spaceship. Yeah, they usually end up on the Sci-Fi channel.

Starting to be bad???? the stats in my opinion are 1 out every 25 movies is somewhat decent. And I put emphasis on the words somewhat decent.
Hollywood has become overly political and that fact alone makes it nearly impossible for the boneheads in Hollywood to make a entertaining movie these days. Most people go to the theatre to be entertained not preached to on how all of us should think politically. Hey Michael Moore, are you listening????

STARTING to get bad? Movies have been morally declining for years! Or are you talking about script wise, lol. They're mostly remakes and adaptions. Their aren't many ideas yet to be thought up yet I think. They need to put Michael Cooney to work. He is a really great screenwriter! Thinks outside the box. Identity was the best movie I ever saw!

Its because movie studios are more concerned about money then making good movies. so they cast idiots like jessica simpson or some other rap, rock, super model, etc in the movie role so it has a built in audience. Reason 2 is cause we as movie goers keep paying to watch this hollywood slop.

i think its because movie producers are too lazy to make a really good movie.except for cars.cars was tottally awesome.they need more scariness in scary movies(the genera not the trilogy)and more action in action movies not like I'm against movie producers.in fact any movie guys out there I'm trying to be an actress so e-mail me please and if your not one don't bother e-mailing me.one quick call to the f.b.i. or the c.i.a. i can send you to a state penitentiary.i am only thirteen and i have seen every horror movie ever made and i haven't been scared of any of them.there to predictable.

Because they rely on stereotypes, explosions, and one-liners so people don't have to think. Movies back in the day were good, and they didn't have gratuitous sex scened or violence in them. Movies today cater to what they think young males want, because they are the target demographic with the highest percentage of ticket sales.
