Welcome to the club. Irregular periods are cause by many things. When I went to the doctor I requested birth control. Birth control is very useful in regulating your cycle. I had to get a pap smear though, because what happened was the reason my periods were so irregular was because I had abnormal cells on my cervix. Something that is very normal. If you have to get a pap smear dont worry, its not that bad. It always better to be safe than sorry. Wouldnt you like to know if something is wrong?

Pap smears usually start after you have been sexually active. They won't help your irregular periods but they could save your life.

if you are sexually active then they would suggest a pap smear if you have not had one this year

I have irregular periods (frequent recurrent periods, heavy flow, cramps) the doctor told me I need to get on birth control that it would help regulate my period...I didn't do it... still have problems off and on...I just don't like the side effects of birth control
