It depends how they were bred. Free range salmon are given a pipe to smoke, whereas GM bred chew nicotine gum. Beware the imorted variety that are weaned on the Gauloise brand; they are ultra addictive;P

I tried smoking a salmon once. Had a helluva time finding rolling paper big enough to cover the whole thing. Then I needed a torch to get it lit. but it lasted quite a while. I didn't enjoy it too much, but I think Norway's famous for its smoked salmon - may be there some knowledgeable Norwegians out there who need to be asked this question?
p.s. It's a good thing I didn't catch my salmon in the lake where justcurious lives. I would've fished her in instead!

Only if the pig or the fish were heavy smokers. Nicotine is present in tobacco but not in the wood used to produce the smoke used in meat or fish smoking. And best of luck with your healthy choice in quitting smoking. I did it a while back and have still quite the "holier than thou" attitude with smokers. I hope you make it to being a real pain in the butt (cigarette, of course).

Not only are they safe, they are delicious.
The smoke used is from wood, not tobacco, so there is no nicotine in either ham or salmon, just good chewy flesh.
Bon Appetit!

The smoke is wood smoke, not tobacco smoke. But you're probably just hamming it up.

just tobacco has nicotine in the smoke. smoked meats are cooked in wood smoke, like oak or maple to flavor the meat. not dangerous. congrats on quitting smoking.

Nicotine is a chemical that is found in tobacco, you can't find it in smoked meat so rest easy and eat up!

No. they are not smoked with tobacco, they are smoked with woods like mesquite. This makes them relatively safe to eat, that is if you are a murder who like to eat defenseless animals.....just kidding, I could go for a big juicy burger myself right about now
