I know this Dr's first name was Jeff or Jeffery...I want to say it happened back in the 80's. He was asleep downstairs his house was kind of ransacked. And they accused him of the killings there was controversy about other people that might have done the killings. And a girl with a floppy hat. They were hippys that is what the Dr said. There was a girl that came forward and said she was at the house but she later died of a drug overdose I think. She never testified. He is in jail right now serving a life sentence I believe. And there is a book about it I just can't remember the name. Thanks to anyone that might know what it is.

The name of the book is Fatal Vision. And the Dr.'s name is Jeffrey McDonald. It's a good book. I've read it a couple times. Also the murders of his wife and children happened in the early seventies, not sure of the exact dates. But I remember that because they found a magazine on the floor that the Dr had been reading and it had a story about the Manson murders. The Manson people were arrested like in 1972 or around there.

His name was Jeff McDonald and he was stationed at Fort Bragg in the late 60s or early 70s. He had been reading about the Manson murders in California and was convicted of killing his wife and children. He was convicted more than once, as he won a new trial through some technicality. The book you are looking for is "Fatal Vision". The book was also made into a movie which was very good. Karl Malden played the Step-Father of his murdered wife, who was instrumental in getting him tried, in the first place. The guy who starred in the TV show, "Petrocelli" was his lawyer. The movie followed the book very well.

I think it was Jeffrey mc donald or macdonough or something like
that. This true story was made into a movie. This guy killed his
beautiful wife and children. A wonderful older actor Karl Malden
played the part of the wifes father in this movie. This guy tried to
pin the murders on some hippies that had been in the area at that
time. This guy was very obnoxious and thought he was joe cool
and was more concerned about his looks and being a womanizer
than the deaths of his lovely family. He was a real loser.
He finally was convicted and in prison. I do not know if he is still
alive and in prison.
