It never ceases to amaze me to see 30 and 40 somethings shopping in the Juniors section. This kills me, because Jrs is the next step up from the children's section. These clothes usually are so adolescent, that it makes these ladies look rather ridiculous.

What also kills me is seeing young ladies and women wearing clothes that are too small for them. Do they not realize that if the wore the size that fits them, that they would actually look better, and thinner? I mean, what is up with all the love handles sticking out under shirts ladies? I have love handles, who doesn’t these days, but I want those bad boys hidden at all times!

Do you think it psychological?

Here for help: If I didn't have self esteem, I wouldn't be able to admit that I'm not perfect, hence the reference to the love handles.

pps. I am not here trying to bash on plus-sized women. My best friend used to be Plus Sized (she's lost 85 pounds with hard work and exercise!!!!) and I know the difficulties she had finding clothes to fit her frame correctly. I'm just saying, if you're a size 14, wear a size 14, not a size 12. You’d be surprised how slim it will make you look and feel. I know, I am a reformed small clothes wearer. Hahahahah

Sears and Walmart actually have some cute clothes, and if you are into trends, they have ‘em for cheap! So you can replace the trendy stuff for little dough.

Too much emphasis placed by the media on looking 12 and anorexic. For all those 30+ women who dress like Brittany Spears....please, please, please....watch "What Not To Wear".

Well, speaking as a plus size woman who doesn't much like her love handles showing either, sometimes it's because it's unbelievably difficult to FIND clothing that fits properly. I'm not talking about a big enough size - I mean that the cut of the clothing does not take into consideration the shape of women's bodies. It's frustrating to look for clothing that is flattering, and find that it's all made for perfect size 6 models, then increased proportionally. That means that in order to cover the butt, the pants are six inches too long and the waist gapes four inches at the back. The one thing the clothing manufacturers DON'T increase proportionally is shirt length, so they're still too short to cover what they should.

I live in a city of about 65,000, and there isn't a single store that caters exclusively to plus sizes. My choices are Sears (no thanks), K-Mart (ditto), Wal-Mart (not if you paid me), Kohl's (maybe, if they'd put more space between the racks - FAT, here, duh!), Boston Store and Shopko. Neither has much selection, and both sell almost exclusively store brands, which are the worst at proper sizing.

Okay, so this answer goes in a completely different direction from what your question intended, but next time you see a fat woman whose clothes don't fit, give her the benefit of the doubt, and blame it on the clothes, not the woman.

BTW - Why is it that fat women daren't show any skin, and we see fat shirtless guys everywhere, and think little of it?

I think most people want to think they're really a size 4 not a 6 or 8 b/c it makes them "fat" to be a bigger size. I don't care! I'm not a small girl but I'm not gonna squeeze my fat behind into a pair of jeans b/c the label says size 12. And for the ladies dressing too young. It really makes a lot of you look older!! I'm not trying to be mean or anything. But really. do you honestly think you look hot in the spandex bodysuit in the juniors section? I think not!!!

Yeah, I agree with you. I think it makes people who are a medium and on a diet feel better when they squeeze into a XS.

It is rather disturbing when 30, 40 year olds shop in the junior section. But hey, I guess if they are gonna spend $200,000 on different operations to make them younger, they might as well go the whole way...

they are afraid to look at the women's section of the store, it might mean that they are getting older. on the other hand as I'm over weight, and my shape isn't what is termed easy fit by the clothes makers, it can be hard to find clothes that fit right. my daughter has a long torso, and find that they just don't make shirts long enough, seems to be the styles that are manufactured

I think the reason why women do that is because they want to think that they are still young and that maybe that can be able to fit into that type/style of clothing to feel young. I believe that they think it boosts up their confidence more by dressing like their daughters which it possibly could, but really it just gives people to stare at and say mean things about them.

everybody is entitled to some confidence and wether it looks good or not everybody does what they want and if you have love handles worry about your love handles and not anybody else because theyr'e comfortable with the way they look and it is not psychological its a matter of confidence and self esteem you might want to think about that for your self

i know, it's repulsive when they do that! i hate it when woman wear clothes that are too small for them. do they actually believe that they look attractive like that?
for example: i saw this woman, she was in her late thirties, over 200 pounds and is wearing a mini skirt and a hot pink tank top! yeah, i do think it is psychological, because so many woman are like that, they think it's normal! thankfully there are still people like you who have class. :)

for some its wanting to be different, or needing a change.
for some its not wanting to grow up.
yet for others its an issue of just not knowing what looks good on them, so they just do what they think is right, while in reality, it looks off.
oh and not to forget, there are those that are just tiny, and cant really find anything in their size.
