Each a dog and a cat have plus and minus. The dwelling they will be kept in matters somewhat I think and how much time you can give them is a factor also I feel. If you have room for a dog and the time to give to a dog, I am sure you would have a great relationship with one. However if your quarters are somewhat confined or restricted and maybe you have a busy schedule I think a cat may be more suitable. They are more independant. Personally, I love them both. I maybe a softie for cats just slightly more. I am not saying cats don't need attention but I feel they do not need as much as a young dog would. Plus the crap from each..well a dog is just bigger and stronger smelling. Very rarely will your friends and family step in your cats crap..Knowhatimean

I'm a dog lover because I need to be needed. Cats don't need anybody- or at least they try to tell you that. Actually, they do- but I found out too late after I gave away my last cat. I still see the look in his eyes when strangers started carrying him away in his cat carrier.
He should have said something sooner- I'm sorry. He ran away from them and I tried to find him, but couldn't. If he hadn't been so arrogant and acted like he cared a little once in awhile I'd have found a way to keep him. But someone wanted him and I was having trouble just feeding myself at the time.

I'd rather have a dog, and I just got a puppy 5 days ago :)
Cats are easier to take care of, because they're pretty much independant.
When it comes to a dog, on the other hand, the responsiblities of ownershop are great, but the love and friendship you will receive are priceless.

i would prefer a cat because with a cat you can leave home for a few days as long as they have enough food because if you have a dog you have to find some one to watch it when your out of town someone to let it out side to go to the bathroom.

Dog--but there are dog people and cat people. Everyone should do what's right for you, but whichever, you get out of them about ten times what you put into them, so invest a lot of time and attention.

Cats are a great pet. They bath themselves and dont need anyone to take them for walks so they can use the washroom. Then there is the quiet. No loud barking in the middle of the night for you to take them outside.

I would love to have a dog, but they do not generally make landlords very happy. I have two cats, and I love them!
