ppl can spell..but its better to use short cuts rather then type out the whole word that takes up 4ever

Some can and don't understand the importance of maintaining our language. Everyone takes language and communication for granted. All these words didn't just pop up overnight. It took discipline in spelling to get to this point. There has to be defined correct spelling for each word. People need to quit being so f'n lazy. Scribes at one time had to spell words in stone. So quit complaining about your fingers hurting. Learn how to spell. Learn how to type. Have some pride in what you are doing here people. Every thing you do is a reflection on your character. That includes your efforts in communication. If you won't even spell a word right when you know how then you are worse than the person who doesn't know how. Laziness is a poor character trait.

I think it's laziness. All these weird "textspeak" spelling conventions would take longer for me to type than the regular spelling because I'd have to think harder about them.

Because most people don't get into situations or professions where spell-checker either isn't available or doesn't know the word. Also because nobody can pronounce words either.
