Are you asking about the supposed "Big One" that will crack California in half and drop it into the ocean?
The San Andreas Fault runs down California lengthwise and it is a very active fault line, meaning it causes a lot of earthquakes. The theory is that some day a super quake will happen all down the fault and cause the land west of the fault line to fall into the ocean.
In reality that can't happen. The land can't drop into the ocean because it will have no where to go. It can't "drop" anywhere. It may form cracks and sink holes but everything will pretty much stay intact. Well, not buildings and such but you get the idea.
Interestingly enough, geologists are saying that there is a "big one" every 100 years or so, and guess what, it's been exactly 100 years since the San Fransisco Quake decimated that city. Scary huh?
I currently live in Sacramento, maybe I should think of moving :)

That in the next few weeks a really strong earthquake with a magnitude of like over 6 will hit the lower part of San Andreas.

Well, the scientists have determined strong tensions in the Californian underground, so they expect a major earthquake in near future.

But nobody can really say when exactly this could happen. Some sensors give information hours before, but without the exact location.

As Los Angeles is densily populated, there is a very high risk of having many people killed.
