If you are a woman and at least 40, take your calcium (herbal is best) at night. If you are a little older, it is part of the life cycle. I notice that I sleep better if I get a good amount of time outside. Do not exercise at night and do not take your vitamins at night. Drinking coffee or soda or tea in the later part of the day will do it too. There are herbal supplements that may help. If you just can't settle down, you may want to try Nature's Sunshine's "HYA" as it gives you a restful sleep. Good for restless kids too. Make sure you are active enough but have time to relax and maybe read before retiring. One friend said that she and her hubby sleep like babies while listening to the sounds of the ocean on a cd. My sister sleeps best when it is totally quiet. Of course, it does eventually help if you have a fairly set bedtime. Your body gets used to relaxing. You can try melatonin but I would only use a pure source like Nature's Sunshine. Some products have left in something that can give you nightmares. NS has removed that component. I told a friend about this for her son who has Downs and is also very hyper. For the first time in 13 years, they are now all sleeping. If you are hyper, the calcium at night will calm you too. Take a multiple B vit in the early morning and it feeds the nerves as well. Don't take it later though. It gives you too much energy. That was my sister's problem. She took her multiple in the afternoon or at night.

You may need a good check up and blood work too but chances are it is part of menopause or premenopause or even post.

Try to take sleeping pills, they really work. Don't take them all at once though. Just one at a time. Good luck.
