Yes, 1938 Indonesia qualified for the World Cup, under the name DUTCH EAST INDIES.
Shahab's answers that Indonesia never qualified is incorrect.
India (not Indonesia) qualified in 1950, but withdrew because they're not allowed to play barefeet by FIFA.

Being serious it should be in Europe considering the fact that a great sort of the communities that qualify come from there, like 3 or 4 communities from different continents - Brazil, Argentina, u . s . a ., and random different. dont see the think approximately all persons having to commute a million/2 way around the planet while it must be hosted right here. England ought to get it as we will have the main suitable capicitys and centers. New anfield 70,000 seater, previous Trafford - 80,000 seater and a great sort of extra over 50,000 by making use of then. additionally we would create an wonderful athmosphere. Exept stamford bridge, **** hollow.

Maybe in 1938. But i think it's the first and the last... well, i haven't bornt yet that time...
well,, maybe it's false.. coz Indonesia was still under Dutch.... we (indonesians) hadn't became Indonesia yet.... so i think it's impossible. And in 1938, (i think) there was no football team, even education wasn't good yet...
Welll,, yaa.. no no no... Indonesia never gone 2 World Cup... many reasons make Indonesia couldn't reach it

No, they never qualified to world cup. the team who qualifies in 1938 (france) was not indonesia, they was india. and also china qualified in 2002 worldcup. (sorry for the wrong answers of some of the friends.)
Indonesia never qualified for worldcup, actully in asia there so much powerful teams (compare with indonesia) wo always was the only teams wo qualify to the world cup, the teams are: Korea, Japan & Iran (& KSA in recent years, but always a big looser)
in this world cup Indonesia was in Group B of world cup premilinaries In Asian cup 2007, Saudi Arabia, Turkmanistan and Sri-lanka. Indonesia Got 7 Points but Saudi Arabia with 18 points advanced to the qualifiying round of asian zone.
Despite being known as the "Kingdom of Badminton," Indonesia has begun to accept and follow football with the most dedicated of Asian nations. One of the few teams in Southeast Asia who are able to challenge Thailand, the runners-up of 2002 Tiger Cup are still not powerful enough to compete with the top teams in Asia for a FIFA World Cup™ berth. (WWW.FIFAWORLDCUP.COM)
But, as a team, they were obviously not as technically and tactically astute as their group rivals Saudi Arabia. With two wins, one draw and three defeats, Indonesia finished behind group winners Saudi Arabia and Turkmenistan.
the Indonesia's most succeeds in soccer are limited to the TIGER CUP. Tiger Cup is a zone-cup that is limited to the nations of the south eastern Asia. Indonesia was in the final of tiger cup 2002 with thailand.
As they are the host nation of asian cup 2007 we hope they use this opportunity to make the basis of their football better and start their improving. maybe they can be better and compete in asian cup like thailand, and north-korea, the teams from east asia how are always in 3rd grade of asian teams.
maybe they can be even better and a day, years later, they can compete with asian most powerfull teams like Iran, Korea, Japan, Australia (Since 2007), Ksa, OR Uzbakistan, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, China & Iraq (1st grade and 2nd garde asian teams) to qualifay to the worldcup.
but now, in this years as fifaworldcup.com says, we should say: "Indonesia still little fish" (www.fifaworldcup.com)
How ever they are the host of ASIAN CUP 2007 sharing with Thailand,
Malysia & Vientnam.

Yep, actually they did. In 1938. And it is their sole appearance at the world cup until now. They've lost all three games.
