I've sent out a bunch of sales letters/ brochures, and now would like to follow up. however, I only know a few of the names of the people i need to talk to. what is a good way to find out who i need to speak with? "May I speak with the person in charge of marketing?" i (obviously) would like to sound professional, not like a telemarketer.

You should call the company first, before you send your information. Call and simply say you have some information on a busineess proposal and you would like to send it to the....(manager, owner or whoever you are targeting) and ask for their name.

Then you send it directly to them with their name on it and not to whom it may concern or manager. Then you can call a few days later and ask to speak to that person. If asked you can simply say you are following up on some information that you sent them.

Anyway hope this helps.

I'm concidered the best in the business. First know that you are interfering in thier daily routine. I don't know what you're selling. Try this.. Take a regular BIC pen show it to the person and say
" this is a very special BIC pen, I have trained it to write any color. Ask then to name a color. Then take a peice of paper and write the color ( spell green if they say green ) What this dose is break the ice. Then ask for 10 minutes of thier time . Be ready to hit your product 3 - 4 best features. This will work 90% of the time. Don't worrry if they are interested you'll get aall the time you need Best of luck J. Kelly

i would spend the extra dollars and get a real list with names and telephone#s. You can even target specifically the types of prospects you contact. when calling, you can ask for the person by name, the worst that can happen is they have been replaced in which case most receptionists will get you to the right party. good luck
