I was considering depo, but my doctor said it could take awhile to get pregnant after I stopped taking it. I would guess the longer you've used it, the longer it takes to come out of your system. Talk to your doctor and see if there is a blood test they can do to determine if that is the problem.
Have fun trying...and Good Luck!

I was on depo a yr after having our 5 yr old daughter and we are now trying for #2 for 4 yrs now and no luck. So, yes Depo can cause you not to get pregnant fast. But each women is different

I took Depo from 13-17 and after that was birth control pills. Off and on again with that until 22. I didnt get pregnant until I was 24. Dont worry about being infertile, the more stress you put on yourself about it the less likely it is to happen. Don't worry about it. I went through the same thing. I went to my doctor and explained the problem or what I believed to be the problem and went so far as to having the sonogram to check my fallopian tubes to make sure all was well. It was, I was just putting too much pressure on myself because I worried about the whole birth control thing. Its just not your time. Relax, you'll conceive when the time is right.

You also have to remember you only ovulate 1 day out of the month and there's a 3 day timeframe that you should go by to find that date.

The more sex you and your partner have THE LESS LIKELY it is that you will get pregnant. Opposite of what people think. Every time he busts a nut it weakens his sperm. The less often you have sex the stronger his sperm will be. My doctor told me it takes a full 2 to 2 1/2 weeks for a mans sperm to gain its full potential.

So chill out on the sex (not even masturbating, for him)so his soldiers can line up, figure out when youre most likely to ovulate, and relax, its going to happen when the time is right.

And too because we were on the birth control for so long although they say it will be out of your system by such and such time your body is going to go at its own speed.

No worries it will happen.

It did not affect me. I was on it for 9 years, it took me 5 months after my missed shot to get preggos. I went back on it after birth for 2 more years, then went off it again to get preggos. The second time it took 6 months after I missed my shot.

I did use the ovulation kit the second time, it helped tremendously. I was ovulating early, whether this was because of the depo I don't know but the 21 day ovulation kit from Walgreens picked it up and I got pregnant the first month of using it.

Good luck, I really hope you get pregnant soon. Just remember, don't forget to have fun trying!

It could still be affecting you. Some women become infertile due to health problems, or no known reason, so that could be what's going on, too. Chart your basal temps for a cycle and see if you can even see ovulation occurring. Then, take that information and contact your doctor and have them check for common health problems that can cause infertility.

Side note, many ladies report it taking up to 36 months to become fertile again, and a large minority of them report permanent fertility, which appears linked to the shot. That's all anecdotal though, no studies have been done that confirm these things. But there re several support groups, online and in real life, for ladies who feel their fertility or general health have been affected by depo.

I got pregnant like 2 days after my depo shot wore off

depo can really mess with your body, you have to figure it stops you from getting your period, i have heard of it taking some women 3 years just to get there period back....so yes it can take you a very long time to conceive

it is also possible to get pregnant on depo, so i would suggest in the future or if you know anyone who is considering it i would tell them to just try a non hormonal way

good luck!
