Could be any snake - you need to go to a web site with pictures and compare. Could be wild or domesticated - depending on where you live.

Could be a red-rat snake also called corn snake. I don't know where you live but they are usually a reddish color with a checkerboard pattern on the belly and red blotches. Or you could have a copperhead. The red-rat is not poisonous but copperhead is. I would have to see a pict of it to be 100% positive. Those 2 are both in FL and maybe more north.

There's more info needed. Copper colored - could be a lot of things. Could be one of a couple toxic snakes or something as harmless as a corn snake.

If in the Eastern or Southeastern US, it might be a Copperhead.

In general, don't touch any snake you cannot positively ID.

If you 'google' 'snake [your state]', you can often pull up a state-by-state listing of snakes, possibly even with photos or ID points. If your snake is not listed, try 'snake key' and see what happens.
