YMMV, I had a few bad experience before PayPal has the Buyer Protection policy.

There was one time I bought a PS2 game from a seller who had 100% positive feedback. Turned out he went "bankcrupt" and I didn't get my game. I disputed it through PayPal but PayPal didn't really do anything at all. So I lost my US$40.

Also, beware of online sellers that accept PayPal as payment methods. Some of their shopping carts are flawed. In general, your order won't get submitted until you hit the submit button. If you choose PayPal as payment, you get redirected to PayPal service, but once you click the button on PayPal page to pay, you immediately transfer the money to the seller. That means that even though you get redirected back to the seller, and eventually you decide not to make the purchase, you have already paid! So, no order number, no confirmation, and money is transferred already. I was lucky that the seller was very responsive and I got my refund simply by mentioning my PayPal transaction ID.

They have $1000 buyer protection policy now so I guess it should be better. Just don't choose PayPal as payment method except for auctions, IMO.

As a former PayPal employee (left a month ago), I firmly believe that PayPal is secure and safe. You may find some bad feedback online, but in general I think you'll find that related to some deal that went bad over eBay.

With over 100 million users that use PayPal for online payments, I think that speaks for itself.

I've used it before and hated it. People would send me money for items and the money would never go through to the bank. I lost a lot of money trying to use PayPal. They wouldn't use any alternative like checks or money orders. Screw PayPal.

Every horror story I've heard had to do with phishing. Paypal itself should be okay.

I've been using it for years without any problems. I have gotten some "fishing" emails from folks pretending to be from Paypal, and I report them everytime!

i use paypal. i've never had any problems with it. just remember never to give your information like password out to anyone. sounds easy, but people get tricky and send you emails pretending to be paypal saying that you need to click on the link and enter your password b/c of recent fraud on your account. they are really just getting your account information to commit fraud. so just beware of people trying to be paypal!

I've used it before, both as a buyer and a seller and even dealt with over seas accounts and I have never had any trouble with it.
