It had to do with oppression and taxation without representation. The penny tax on tea was the last straw in a long line of taxes placed on the colonists by the King. The colonists believed that if they had to pay all those taxes to support the British government, then they should have representation in that government. But the King refused to give the colonists any sort of voice in the British government, so it eventually led to revolution.
We love you now though. You English are pretty cool.

The Boston Tea Party was a direct action protest by the American colonists against Great Britain in which they destroyed many crates of tea on ships in Boston Harbor. The incident, which took place on Thursday, December 16, 1773, has been seen as helping to spark the American Revolution.
I don't know if that's going to help you or not!

As citizens of the crown, many of whom have made your fortunes from trade agreements and having received the protection of the crown for your investments, under what pretext do you deem it appropriate to perform such a traitorous act of destruction?
Are such treacherous and traitorous acts to be the basis of rule of law in this rebellious land?
That's about the best I could come up with on short notice. Not show stoppers, but might get them a little flustered.

Considering that many of the soldiers helped to dump the tea and made sure no other property was damaged. In fact, a lock was broken and a replacement was sent for.
This whole thing took about three hours to do.
