Racial and sexual bias are an integral part of the BBC and ITV management.

The news, sport and weather are heavily biased away from male englishmen.

Weather forecasters seem to have to be female and Irish or Scottish. Most also seem to have to get pregnant.

Only fairly recently the BBC was heavily criticised over their selection process which only selected a female short list.

I also seem to remember it was criticised for only advertising a job in scottish and irish publications.

But hold on they do say there is about to be a Geordie current affairs presenter!

Why are there so many Canadians on U.S. television? Because it's there, and there is more exposure (Canada is only large geographically). The same applies in Britain: everyone knows the BBC, but who ever heard of the Scottish Broadcasting Corporation, assuming there is one (which is likely)? Also, the Scots are one of the principal non-English ethnic groups, so you will see them there where in the United States you might see Italians or Hispanics or blacks.

These answers have made my day! My brother and I both thought it was hilarious that the mad bloke in the bunker in 'Lost' was Scottish! If you need a nutter in a hole in the ground, get a Scot!
P.S. It was Blue Peter that advertised in 'Celtic' publications for a new presenter.
