Normally that happens when
1) You disconnected from the internet
or
2) It timed out trying to connect to the internet because it got blocked by a firewall.

99% of the time that message comes up, its because IE could not find an internet connection so it brings up that default page. Its an IE default page for offline messages.

Make sure your ISP is connected properly to your computer. There are many reasons why your computer might break its connection.
1) Weather
2) Bad router or too far away from router
3) Bad ethernet or port connection to your ISP
or the other possibilies:
4) Firewall blocking certain sites
5) Your security controls are blocking some sites from viewing on your browser.

Many times our firewall or security controls can be screwy and it makes us lose connection to some sites because of a block. Make sure you go to TOOLS and then internet options and then go to SECURITY. Make sure it is set to medium for internet.

well I'm not sure what you asked be for but most of the time when Internet Explorer says that *The page cannot be displayed* means that there is some type of problem with your part of the Internet check your Internet signal and if that dint fix it than try typing in a web site and see if it may be just the web site that is have problems

You didn't really give enough info to answer that question. IE will default to that page whenever you input a destination that it can't find. If it's a web-page, it could be anything from a temporary routing problem, to a crashed host, or just a wrong adress.

One possible solution: put a dot after the com (or gov or org or whatever) i.e: www.yahoo.com.

That will force your browser to check the routing table in the web hub for that suffix (com gov org). And by hub, I mean hub... if the page exists, and the address is correct, it'll show.

Another thing you can do is go to an IP search engine, (here's one: http://www.dnsstuff.com/ ) and input the ip into the browser.

one of yahoo's main IP's: 66.94.230.37
