Figure 10 minutes form gate to tram, 5 minutes to catch a tram, and 5 minutes to get there, but unfortunately you are now outside of security and have to go through again and get to your gate. Depending on time of day and line could be up to another 30 minutes possibly more. But they have great Chicago Pizza and hot dogs as well as duty free. So would plan on 1 1/2hrs to be safe at a minimum.

technically you don't need to go outside but the shuttle everyone is referring to is probably the train system. You cam access the elevators to the walkway to the train stations from the departures level (don't go to baggage claim). The trains run every couple minutes but I think 1 hour is completely NOT do-able. it would seem you domestic and international ticket were not done together but call American and get on an earlier flight, if you are delayed even a little you will likely miss your flight and even if you aren't depending on how crowded the airport is, what gate you come in with american in terminal 3 and the secuirty lines - even if you are on time you are pushing it. If your ticket was done all together, they never should have done this, ask them to change it.

It shouldn't take any longer than around 30 minutes at most. Typically an airport bus runs every 20 minutes. If you just missed one it will take twenty minutes for it to get back to you and probably around 10 minutes to get two more terminals down. Give or take 5 minutes.

Not long if you take the shuttle train. Terminal 3 is closest to Terminal 5 which is the International terminal.
