I have a sister who had amazing results cutting out cow dairy in her diet. 2 weeks later her skin is gorgeous. No milk, cheese, sour cream, ice cream made from cow milk (so she uses Rice milk in her cereal, Goat milk Ice cream and Goat milk or sheep cheese).

Peace!

See a Dermatologist. He or She can evaluate your skin and give you the best advice and prescriptions, if you need them. You may need an oral treatment along with a topical treatment. You could have a bacterial infection under you skin that is causing breakouts. This does not mean that you are dirty or not practicing proper hygiene, you could be washing your face too much, and using too many products. In which case, you are only treating your skins surface. When what really needs attention is internal and there isn't anything that you can buy, over the counter, that will heal your acne. If you end up needing oral treatment, your Dermatologist will tell you how long that you need to be medicated. A lot of people heal up significantly in a couple of weeks and stop taking their RX. Don't do this! Your acne will come back and you'll have to start at square 1 again, SO FRUSTRATING! Follow Doctor's orders and take it as long as you're told to. Luckily for me my dad is a dermatologist, so he helped me right away. But some people suffer for a long time. From one ex-acne sufferer to a sufferer in need, I hope this helps:) GOOD LUCK!

I am currently doing an acne treatment from my doctor, and my pharmacist explained the process to me.

1. Wash your face with a deep -cleansing facial wash [whatever you normally use that works well] - use a wash cloth in order to get the heads off of your zits, etc.

2. USe the extra strong Oxy Pads [with the pink lid] to wipe all over your face [it burns, but it's worth it]. these have salicidic acid and it helps to get the rest of the impurities off your face as well.

3. Once the tops are off your zits, etc. . you want to use something with 5% benzoyl Peroxide - I have been using a Spectro Gel Vanishing Cream.... wait for that to try aftr you massage it into the spots so it can go into your pores.

4. Use a doctor prescribed Vitamin E Acid cream [only at night time] on top of it all.

The entire purpose of this, and what it basically does is burn off a layer of your skin... it makes for face hurt for the first bit, and peel a bit, and your acne gets worse before it gets better in order for everything under the surface of your skin to come up.

My skin is already clearing up. It has a 98% success rate.
Especially if you do that face washing routine... religiously... morning and night.

I have tried Murad and it did jack ****, and i still have oodles of it sitting around.
I have friends that tried Proactiv and it was WAY too expensive [like murad] and after they stopped using it their faces broke out really badly.
I have a friend that takes Birth control called 'Diane 35" and her skin is radiant, however, she has to continue taking it, in order for it to keep working.

You could try some Vitamin E cream/gel... on your face... along with the face washing routine...it does well with clearning up scars, blemishes and pimples...

Keep in mind that the process I described to you can take u p to 6-12 weeks... give it a try.... it's working.

My brother had severe acne and he took acutane and after about a year he no longer had acne. But it's really, really hard on your skin. It depends how bad your skin is.

It would be best to see a dermatologist so they can evaluate your skin condition, but perhaps suggest those things i told you about.. see what they think...

Well I use clean & clear every day, and then some astringent, and this almost always works for me. I've always been kinda skeptical of the proactive and stuff like that, so my best advice is to go to the dermatologist if you havent already. Also, drink lots and lots of water-you will see a drastic change. If you drink soda, stopping can only help you. Remember not to touch your face, and wash your pillowcase at least once a week. Find a sunscreen for your face that protects but also does not clog your pores-if you get sunburnt on your face it will only accentuate it more. If found that toothpaste does work, but these are just some tips...your best bet would be to get some real medicine. Good luck.

I struggled with acne for years and I finally found the solution that works for me. We have been fooled, tricked, deceived, and just plain lied to. It's time that someone put a stop to it, and everyone learn the truth!

Those of us who suffer from acne have usually been given 2 choices and neither of them work:

1. Over the counter remedies such as cleansers, creams, ointments, etc. These things have been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.

2. Go see a doctor and or dermatologist. They will generally prescribe prescription drugs which include topicals and or antibiotics. This, too, has been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.

I found a step-by-step program that cured my acne and it has never come back. It is amazing and doesn’t use any drugs or doctors. The truth is that acne can be cured…if we know the secret the doctors and drug companies don’t want us to know.

There is a great website: http://cure-my-acne.info/3daycure/ that has all the details. I really suggest you check it out and see if it works as well for you as it did for me.

acne is a serious problem that if left untreated will definetely leave scars in your face, however do not panic, I had acne for 6 years and everyone has been telling me that acne will disappear once I get older! I made the mistake of listening to them, you should not do the same mistake!

I then went to a dermatologist and this dermatologist suggested that I buy a cream and get some vitamins, I believe that the anti acne vitamins helped me a lot, I suggest you visit this acne resource centre

http://charticles.atspace.com/acne.htm

and whilst you are there check some of their great products, and compare different prices.

def. agree with that first answer. accutane has basically saved my life a couple of times. i had bad acne in middle school and it "cured" my acne and oily skin...then it came back last year (junior yr) and i did it again and it helped it again. although acne may come back, accutane has help me A LOT. i also had tried soo many different things that didnt seem to work. since i just had oily skin, it was hard to control that so my acne would just keep coming. but the accutane basically stops your oil production. so try to get in and see a dermatologist. they can give you other perscription stuff too like pills and other topical lotions and stuff that are stronger than over-the-counter products.

You've already been given good advice on what modern medicine can offer you.

You might want to take careful inventory of what you eat. Some people break out from eating peanuts, most from potato chips. If your colon isn't happy, that will contribute to problems. If you are under a lot of stress, it will probably make things worse too.

I used proactive and it did nothing for me... now my answer may suprise you but I got rid of mine by washing my face with dishsoap every morning (a very small amount of course) and using oil-free face lotion(any type will work fine) to make sure it didn't dry out my skin. Like you, I tried everything before that and nothing worked... but I swear the dishsoap worked great!
