We need more details! I'm assuming you are female. You do not give an example of the type of place you would be going. You do not say what your figure is like. Trinny and Susannah of B.B.C. America's "What not to Wear" would probably recommend separates. A flattering skirt and nice top. They believe dresses are tricky for women our age because we can either look like "lamb dressed as mutton" or frumpy. You could also wear trousers and a nice top. If you are thick around the middle, however, I do not recommend something that begins or ends there. You don't want to draw too much attention to a bad area.

Color is very important. If you don't know what your "season" is I recommend reading or watching, "Color Me Beautiful." You will get a lot of fabulous tips on what colors make your skin glow.

I recommend watching Trinny and Susannah. The American copy of "What not to wear" is lame and obnoxious in comparison. Best of luck and enjoy your evenings out!

Assuming that you are a female if I were taking you out I would love to see my date in a nice button down blouse, a pair of nice pants and some open toe sandals or pumps. If that doesnt work then maybe just a nice sundress.

I'm 42, and age has nothing to do with what you wear..... It's how you feel and look to your self... I think I dress pretty nice casual, professional, and when out on the town... and I am told often how great I look..... and it has noting to do with age...... don't worry about the age... just dress to fit your style and the mood you are in.... and it will all fall into place...

Man or woman?

For men creased khakis and a shirt with a collar. Keep the fragrance light.

For women, I would say a nice skirt or good slacks, a good blouse or sweater, and fun shoes & bag.

Male, long pants, loose the tie, no t-shirt, nice sweater is fine.

Female, pretty much anything would work, not too many accessories, and if you go with a dress I would say sun dress max.

I would think any Super Heroes costume would look good, and quite appropriate if I might say so.
