me and my husband are selling our home and the closing is in a week..
My husband is a contractor, he pretty much remodeled our whole house now. One day, 3 of our tiles in the laundry room cracked. So he had to replace them. after regrouting around the 3 tiles, he decided to grout the whole floor again. now here is the problem, he grabbed the wrong grout, which is very light beige, and the grout underneath is dark brown. It looks terrible.
I told my husband to fix it. He says he wont do it because he remodeled the whole house, hes tired of remodeling , and we lowered our price by 15,000 because the market is soo slow now.
I explained to him that when the people came to look at our home, they saw the laundry room with dark brown grout.

I cant get through to him!!

Can i do something about this? is there maybe a stain or something?

This is a really quick fix, but it will work if he insists on not regrouting. Go to the home improvement store and look for a marker pen in the stain/paint section. These markers are intended to fix scars, dents and scratches in wooden furniture. Choose something dark like the original color of the grout. Trace the grout lines with the marker and wipe off anything that gets on the tile immediately. Also at the home depot, you will find a grout sealer with a little brush on the top. After you finish staining the grout with the pen, use the grout sealer so that you seal in the color. Clear nail polish will work just as well. It is a mickey mouse solution, but if you seal it the color will last about a year which will put you in the clear of disclosure issues. It happened to us once in a shower. Good thing I had my cleaning people in afterward because once the grout got wet, it got worse. This method at least solved the problem for a year and my renters only had a year's lease. Good luck and don't tell anyone I told you this or I'll have to...well, you know :) !

No offense to any other answers, you, or your husband, but what is being suggested is lying to prospectives.

Raise the price back up, spend the money to get a tile person in since Hubby is over it, and have it done correctly and honestly. The solution is simple enough without hiding a flaw. Personally if you did that, and I was buying the house, I'd want a home warrantee anyway, and I'd be on your case from the Git Go.

BTW I have no clue where you live, but unless you're in an extremely depressed area THERE is no way the MARKET is DOWN.

Dirt may accumulate in the joints. This could discolor the new grout. You may have use some sort of brush to clean out the open joints before grouting, just as a precaution.

I wouldn't worry about it. A lot of the time, people will want to take it out anyhow, no matter what color it is, and re-do it to their liking. Maybe even the tile.
Since you have already dropped your price, and have spent so much remodeling, I wouldn't spend another penny. Who knows, the new owners just might like it with the lighter color grout.
Don't stress; sit back and relax. It will all work out the way it is suppose to.
Good luck and God bless

No dont stain it just use a utility knife and get the beige out and get the right color and do it over. anything elce you do will look like a patch. And that will concern a buyer more, tell him if he wants to sell it get off his butt and fix it right.
