Da Vinci's code was written backwards so no one could understand what he was saying.

Anything else is mere speculation

As near as I can tell, there is no Da Vinci code; it's just a story. If there is symbolism in his works, it revolves around himself. For example, there is a theory that the Mona Lisa is actually a picture of Da Vinci himself, altered to look as he would if he were female. If there is symbolism in "The Last Supper," I would bet that it again has something to do with himself and no deep symbolic meaning about Jesus. I read that Da Vinci was an atheist, yet he had patrons that were important figures in the Church. The meaning? They were willing to overlook his eccentricities because he was so talented, and he was willing to overlook theirs because they could pay. I really think all the hubbub over "The Da Vinci Code" is way over exaggerated. JMHO.

I have studied da Vinci for a long, long time and some of the things I see written about him on here are pitiful. There is no code and his mirror writing was a childhood habit which was not rectified!!!! He had nothing to do with the Priory of Sion and symbology in paintings and art are not secrets. They are there to be understood by those who know about them. I view art, especially Reniassance art on as regulr basis and I have handled many of da Vinci's original works. There are no terrible secrets to be found. We may simply extract evidence to support our theories with regard to his life and his works.

Dan Brown did a lot of research to make his book and the plot of it seem very real but it's all fiction. It comes from the imagination of Dan Brown so i suppose it was made for the entertainment of millions around the world.

For the thousandth time, the book and movie are FICTION.It's obviously a misunderstood word, but it means it's MADE UP.IMAGINARY!
The real DaVinci was not part of any secret group with special knowledge of Jesus.
DaVinci's only "code" was the fact that he wrote in mirror images.
And Jesus was not married and didn't have children!
