Now the Away kit is RED. But since the war it has been different shades of Green. As far as I know this was to honour the Irish who were the Germans first post-war international opponents.

SIM is correct. There is a strong pre and post war Irish connection. Ireland were their first post-war opponents. This and the fact that the green and white kit rocks.
The English xenophobes should remember that the exploits of their ancestors far outweigh the barbarism of the The Third Reich in quantity if not in cruelty.
I'm a scot who at the start of tournaments likes to see England perform well. Then drifts into indifference through the ignorance of history and the racism which many of their fans display.

Not sure why they had green, but they have black and red now because those are two of the three colours on the German flag.
Their home kit is white and black because thoughs are the national colours of Prussia (the most powerfull part of Germany before it united)
I'm English, but if England and Germany play I want Germany to win just so xenophobic, Sun-reading, loud-mouth, hooligan twats like many of the people here will shut the hell up.

Why is their home kit white? Nothing to do with their flag.
Anyway - I understand that the Home kit has always been white, but the away kit changes. Green has been the most used of the away strips - this is the colour of the German Football Association (DFB) whose colour is Green.
A bit like England kits having Red, White and Blue - no blue in our English flag - but there is in the FA's and thats why we have the blue on our kits.

I don't know why the away kit is green, but those who posted the things about the war and how we're all gays and crouts, that's just really offensive and has nothing to do with football.

It's because they thought they could do us in the war and they got there c**ts kicked in, so they've tried playin in green to try and make us mistake them for the pitch but it aint happenin, we hammered them then and we will hammer them again if we meet up in the world cup.. unlucky you sweaty crouts!!

Don't know, but I also hope that if we meet them, they win.
I fail to understand the puerile behaviour of some (NOT) fans towards the Germans. They (the so called fans) seem to think they are clever and funny, they're not, they are dim and tedious.
