Smart people think they are smart, it is neither arrogant or un...just a gift from mom and dad. Average intelligence people know they are average, and do just fine with it, and dumber people know they are not the brightest bulb on the tree...we all have a good idea of how smart or un we are...I have found it isn't the smarts that get you through life, it is drive and determination, which seem to have nothing to do with smarts. I have seen some very smart people through it away from lack of initiative. I have seen some very average people succeed beyond their wildest imaginations because they stuck to it and were determined to finish first.

I have an IQ of 152 and I scored in the 99th percentile nationwide on the LSAT. I also have lived a very unusual life, having found myself in circumstances ranging from being at a private liberal arts school in my late teens, early twenties, to being homeless in Utah a few years ago.
Basically, I think I am smart, because I am a freakin' genius and also a person of exceptional ingenuity and versatility.
Why you or anyone else would think they are smart? That I couldn't answer.

Hmmm... Interesting question.
Some are of course. But they never claim to be. Smart that is. They don't need to. They are.
If someone claims to be, they usually are not.
Sort of like a corporate "empowerment" policy. If you see that phrase, run like hell from that company.
Smart people don't think they are. They don't think about that stuff at all. They think about how to improve computer operating systems, or how to cure cancer, or...
The last thing they would think about is whether they were smart or not.

Some do because they really are and have tons of validation to prove it like grades, success, people around them that acknowledge their intelligence.
But some just think they are smart and aren't. These are the ones that keep having to tell you how smart they are.
And then there are those like me, who are really just smart asses!

Because they are!
Not all people might have all the data required to make an impressive statement.
But everybody is smart.
Stupidity can be a very challenging experience, and it requires really smart people to survive it.

i hate it when they think they are smart only cuz they know math- mean i'm a straight a student but everyone thinks math is all that matters! the indiganance of it!

because they let all the money go to there brains... they say they know alot about alot of things... but I think I'm smart but I admit I only know alittle bit about alot! you understand.. I hope i did not confuse you!

Well, when you don't know much, that means there's a lot you need to know. Therefore, they think they're smart because they don't know what they don't know.
