Noise/sound can be defined as compression waves in a medium.
Just because the waves never reach an eardrum doesn't mean that they didn't exist. Proof of the waves can be found by measuring the vibration of nearby objects (such as the condenser of a microphone) without actually listening to the sound caused by these waves.

So the answer is yes.

P.S. Asking the question doesn't make you sound stupid to anyone other than someone that thinks you asked the question because you really had no idea rather than the more obvious reason that you wanted to see others' logic in resolving this age old paradox.

If a tree falls in the forest and there's no-one there to see it, then did the tree in the forest really fall?

That's the most cliched and pointless "philosophical" question ever written. Yes, it did.

Yes, of course it does. If a tree falls, there will be a noise, but it might not be heard by anyone because they are too far. I really hate that question, because it is way to obvious.

yes definitely, just because there isn't a human/animal presence that doesn't mean that the laws of the world will stop existing.
the noise will be due to gravity bringing the tree down with force and fall on the leaves on the ground

Certainly it makes a noise, it's all in physics.
If you were to place a microhpone in the forrest, and a tree fell, it would record that noise. And yet, no one was there to hear it, in real time.

it's one of these two: it makes a noise but not a sound, or it makes a sound but not a noise... because for one, by definition, it has to actually be heard by a human ear. i think noise... because sound waves exist whether people hear them or not. so it makes a sound, but not a noise...

Yes. Conservation of energy and all that. Don't ask questions like this. They're supposed to make you sound smart but they only reveal how little you know.

of course it does. If someone screams and no one hears it, is there still a noise from the scream?
