Every dog has a different smell. For dogs it is a way of saying hi. It is a greeting. Don't worry about such small things.

well dogs have a better sense of smell than people, it is about 100 times better / stronger. since dogs can't really identify colors, they use their strong sense of smell to find dogs. they probably don;t like the smell, but it is the strongest

The Dog Whisperer, Cesar Milan, says that their scent is more concentrated there and that is how they distinguish each other. They must not hate the smell THAT much, huh...or they would quit doing it. lol
