Heavens yes! It's a classic. If you aren't used to the leisurely pace of old fashioned writers you'll have to get used to it. And you may be shocked by how everyone obsesses about how much money everyone had. But remember that marriage was the only career open to most women so what looks like gold digging now was really only good career planning then.

To the best of my knowledge Jane Austin (from Austin Texas), the 19th century American Western writer from Austin Texas, never wrote a book called "Persuasion", but "Persuasion by the 18th c ENGLISH author Jane AUSTEN is one of the major jewels in the crown of English Literature.
(In case some of you lot are humor-impaired, the Jane Austin web page below is a parody).

Persuasion is a classic. In the new movie The Lake House starring Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves this book plays a very important part. Good movie, too.

Yes, I have, but i haven't read it yet. I almost finished Pride& Prejudice , but i watched a movie version of Pride & Prejudice and i would recommend the book to anyone.
Sorry I wasn't much help, but i have become an instant Jane Austen fanatic.

I've heard of Jane Austen's Persuasion but haven't read it. However, there was a great production done of it by, I think, Masterpiece Theatre, which I did see and liked very much.

It's a great story about a girl who messed things up the first time, but gets a second chance at happiness.
She's not as vivacious as Elizabeth Bennett, but I like "Persuasion" just as much, if not more than "Pride and Prejudice."

Yeah, and I saw the movie. I haven't read the book, but the movie was pretty good. If you like Pride and Prejudice, you'll like Persuassion.
